Acne Laser Treatments with AE Skin

Acne Laser Treatments with AE Skin, AE Skin, Acne, laser, treatments, facial, skin, beauty, merlon beauty, beauty blogger, blogger, la blogger, trending, skin care

A couple of weeks ago, I mentioned in this post that I was going to begin acne laser treatments that consisted of 6 sessions. The time has come, and I’m so happy to share the end results with you.

As you can tell from the first two photos shown above (not edited), I had acne and blemishes along my jawline. I was very self conscious about it. I tried endless skincare products, even changed my skincare regimen a few times, but nothing seemed to work. Instead, it left me feeling very frustrated and helpless. I never suffered from acne growing up, so I was so confused. Then I realized it was “adult acne” (insert eye-rolling emoji here).

As a blogger, I’m always on camera and meeting new people at events, so suffering from adult acne made me feel very insecure. There were times when I would even try to hide my face. I’d skip out on attending events just because I didn’t want anyone to see my skin.

I decided to contact Dr. Alex at AE Skin, and discuss my concerns and see what he could recommend. That’s when he suggested I’d try acne laser, which was a 3-step process: a blue light, red light and infrared light, that consisted of 6 sessions.

I was a bit nervous at first because I wasn’t sure what to expect. Was it going to be painful? Would I really see results? What if it didn’t help improve my skin? I had so many questions. Luckily, Dr. Alex and his amazing staff answered all of my questions, and addressed my concerns.

It was not painful. They actually numb your face so you don’t feel a thing.

As you can see in the last two photos above (not edited), there is a huge difference from the photos taken before my treatments. My skin feels smoother, brighter, healthier, most importantly my skin has cleared up significantly.

I feel more confident than ever. Even feel more comfortable wearing less makeup – and being on social media without makeup at all, which is the best feeling in the world. George has even noticed a difference, and has mentioned that my skin is glowing (insert blushing emoji here).

I would highly recommend scheduling a consultation with Dr. Alex if you have any concerns with acne. I am beyond happy with my results. My only regret is that I didn’t begin these treatments sooner.

Thank you to Dr. Alex and his incredible staff who made this experience so amazing and made me feel comfortable during every session. My skin feels and looks better than ever!

I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love to brunch. Brunch is such a delightful affair. The workweek is over, and it’s all about enjoying your time off. Plus, there’s food, which is obviously the most exciting part.

This week is all about Easter, so Sunday brunch with girlfriends seemed fitting. I invited my two favorite blogger gals Enocha of Locks and Trinkets and Elizabeth of A Keene Sense of Style to brunch at Manuela – a relaxed and informal atmosphere. Right up my alley. Manuela brings southern charm to the Arts District with their locally-grown produce, and a variety of vintage furniture throughout the restaurant. It was a gorgeous place to take photos. Besides, what’s a blogger brunch without taking a million photos before eating, right?! 😉

No better way to celebrate the holiday than gathered with your best gals over a delicious meal and yummy lattes. Sounds like the perfect way to end the weekend.

I decided to switch things up this Easter. Instead of a pastel color, I opted for a metallic-shimmery lacquer – Worth A Pretty Penne. It has a slight rose-tinted silvery-copper tone that has quickly made its way to my top favorite colors this season.

I hope your Easter is filled with nothing but good memories. Whether you’re meeting up with friends or spending it with your family, the most important thing is to be surrounded by those who mean the world to you.

Happy Easter!

Currently: feeling overwhelmed by the massive amount of emails pouring down my inbox. Excited and happy – nonetheless, but also finding myself shaking my head more often than not as I scroll down, mark unread, and continue reading the unanswered reason why brands continue to think I work for free or ok to even ask, when we all know they would not spend one day working off the clock – good heavens no, because why would you? Why would anyone devote their valuable time and get nothing in return? Unless it is for a good cause, right?

I love gifts – don’t get me wrong. I’m forever grateful for all the gifts I receive, however for the amount of work that goes into each photo, every content created for my blog/social media, and not being compensated for, is eye twitching to say the least. As much as I love receiving free stuff just like the next person, unfortunately at the end of the day, they’re not going to pay the bills.

Oh, and the ridiculous net 30/60 terms (gag me). It’s not like I can tell my phone bill company or mortgage that “Oh, sorry I’m going to need 60 more days. Unfortunately XYZ hasn’t paid me”. Yeah, I’d like to see the look on their face. Lol.

In a perfect world, they would say “Oh, no worries. Take all the time you need. I’ll follow up in 60 days”

… sigh.

Am I doing something wrong? Maybe it’s me. I must be crazy… It’s true, I don’t have millions of followers, so maybe I’m not worthy…? Not enough? No, No. Stop it! Of course I am. I’m more than enough. I’m worthy – goddammit. I am deserving.

Tell the negative committee that meets inside your head to have a seat and shut up.

UGH.

Not asking for a pity party by any means. Just throwing my thoughts, feelings and emotions out on the table blog.

After all, I am only human.

On a much lighter note… I am working on creating new content, and revamping my website (coming soon). It is well overdue for a facelift. Maybe I’ll create better content and post less, or post more than usual. I feel as though I was more creative back in 2011-12 when I was working on The Wear To Go Girls… Feel like the creative juices have dried up and need some type of refill to get the juices flowing, know what I mean?

I’m not sure but when I have all my ducks in a row, I will let you all know.

Until then, Happy Monday boos.

Very often than not do I find myself questioning “what am I doing with my life?” I think it’s pretty normal.

There are times where I feel I have my s*** together …pardon my french, and times when I just want to throw in the towel. Also very normal.

So what do I do to stay motivated? What keeps me going?

Passion. That’s what keeps me going. I’m very passionate in what I do, and I think that is a huge reason why I continue to do what I love doing.

These are just a few things that help me stay motivated.

  1. I said this on insta stories before. I go on Pinterest and will LI.TER.ALLY search for positive quotes. It really does help me stay sane, driven and focused. honestly.
  2. Read books. Currently re-reading Mindset by Carol S. Dweck.
  3. Surround yourself with others who are just as passionate and ambitious as you are.
  4. Travel. Even if it’s a quick getaway. Getting lost for a bit let’s you regroup and find yourself, ya know what I mean?
  5. YOU GUYS. Your kind words mean the world to me. I wouldn’t be where I am today with my blog without you guys. so thank you. thank you thank you. a million times thank you.

Social media has really changed the way we communicate with one another, and pretty much life altogether. Am I right or am I right?

One of the most rewarding things about being an influencer is the connection with you all. It’s truly one of the greatest pleasures of Instagram… for me at least.

What have I learned about Instagram? Staying true to myself. Don’t be afraid to not like the same things as the next influencer. I can go on and on and on, but you get the point.

I wanted to share a few things I’ve learned/tips on Instagram from my perspective. As always, I speak for myself and all opinions are mine based off of what I’ve learned and/or experienced.

Five Instagram Tips:

  1. Post what YOU want vs. what EVERYONE else is posting. I use to create content based off of what was trending versus what I actually love. My content is always changing because as I get older, I discover new things I enjoy/love – but I’ve learned that posting more relevant content to my life is important and makes more sense, because who am I really if I’m not sharing things I actually fancy… right?
  2. Post IRL (In Real Life). This is obviously a tough one as you can’t ALWAYS post in real life. Things always come up or life just happens, therefore; sometimes you are unable to post right away. I totally get it, but I do prefer to try to post IRL as often as possible, because I find myself being more excited to post the content at the moment than saving it for a raining day (if that makes sense). I tend to get tired of seeing the “saved images” under my camera roll so much that I often end up never posting because I’ve seen them a million times already, which I end up forgetting that you (my followers) haven’t seen these images. The struggle.
  3. Be Authentic. This ties back to tip #1. For those who know me know I’m a very laid back person and don’t take things so seriously. I think being yourself is what will make you stand out. I love creating action shots. The accidental images are what end up doing well for me. Meaning less posey and more in-the-moment shots. The social media world we live in is saturated with so many influencers so getting creative can often be overwhelming, and often feel discouraged – but I think that’s the beauty of it. You must always stay creative, and constantly find ways to differentiate yourself from the rest. I love a good challenge.
  4. Stop stressing. It’s not that serious people. Maybe because I’m not that picky when it comes to taking photos. I found myself taking less photos and getting a good 2-3 photos I LOVE. That’s really all I Need. It becomes overwhelming for me when I have to weed out all 500 photos I just took for that one good photo to post. It’s a waste of my time and the person taking the photos. Sure we need options, especially when you’re asking a stranger, however; try to learn what angles/poses work best for you and direct the person on how to take the photos. It’ll save you some time. It becomes less stressful for me, too – honestly.
  5. Engage with your followers. How do I say this without sounding… um, bitchy… You’re not a celebrity therefore don’t act like one. Respond to your followers. If they’re asking where your shoes are from even though you stated in your caption that details are listed on your latest blogpost, just tell them. If people are DM’ing you about something relevant (obviously not the creepers asking if you’re single or whatnot), then you should respond even if it’s an emoji. Acknowledge your followers – it’s so important because to be honest, without them, your blogging business would be non existence. Again, speaking from my perspective/experience, so please don’t get offended.

I hope you find this post helpful. Obviously most of these tips apply to influencers or anyone trying to grow their Instagram.

It’s obvious that our engagement has dropped drastically with the new Instagram algorithm. I say drastically because I’ve noticed it on my own account.

Because it is so difficult to keep people engaged, one must find ways to maintain the interaction between one another. Here are five tips on how to increase your Instagram engagement… I hope this is helpful for some of you.

  1. Figure out the best times/dates to post. Use icono square to get your analytics.
  2. Interact with your followers as well as accounts you follow. It’s important to respond to any comments or questions left on your photos.
  3. Figure out how many times a day to post, whether that’s more frequently or less.
  4. Observe what content gets the most engagement that way you know what type of content you need to continue creating going forward.
  5. Captions are key. I personally think it’s a waste when you skip captions. Take advantage of creating creative captions, like asking questions or telling your followers to list their favorite ___. Start a conversation. Whether it’s through your captions or insta stories. Ask your followers what type of content/posts they want to see more of. Or maybe ask your followers where they are from.
