I have been wanting a pair of the Leather Dizzy Parrot sandals by Elina Linardaki for quite some time now, so I decided to make my very own pair. It has been forever since I’ve last done a ‘Mel Made‘, and with my blog’s 6th anniversary just around the corner, I thought it would be perfect!
Making my very own Elina Linardaki Sandals made me realize how much I love making things. When I first started my blog, it was mainly focused on DIYs, and making these sandals truly reminded me how much I missed it.
I plan to do more fun DIYs, so be sure to follow along to see what I make next.

It’s that time of the year again, and I know I have been talking about getting back into doing more DIYs.
The time has finally come! I decided to do another DIY Christmas ornament simply because the first ornaments I made were a hit. To this very day my last DIY (from 2010) Christmas Ornament (click here for post) has gotten so much love.
Any who, let’s get started.
I decided to make faux feather pom pom christmas ornaments.
Here’s what I used:
How I made it:
I used the glue gun and dabbed a small amount onto the ornament, and began gluing the boa around. I decided to use smaller ornaments (last minute decision) because they looked much better on a smaller ornament than on the bigger ones.
It was such an easy and fun DIY. Hope you all enjoy it!
SHOP THE LOOK:
I stumbled upon a pair of faux fur heels on instagram, and fell head over heels for them… literally. I just needed to have them, so a couple of weeks ago Enocha and I had a fun little DIY sesh and filmed a how-to video.
We made our very own faux fur heels, and I’m really happy how they turned out. I decided to add the chain last minute. I felt like they were missing something. Although it was a hairy and messy DIY, it was tons of fun – fur sure! 😉
What do you guys think?
I promise I’ll be sharing more of DIY’s soon, so stay tuned.

Believe it or not, I whipped up this DIY embellished collar this morning. It was super easy, and if you’re like me and don’t have a clue of what you’re wearing for New Year’s Eve, then this might be an option.
Here’s how I made it:
Pretty easy, huh?!
Hope you liked this DIY. For more DIYs (mel made) check them all out here. The party crown DIY is one of my favorites. Great party hat for birthdays or to ring in the new Year. Stay tuned for tomorrow’s post as I reflect on 2014.

As promised, here’s a fun and quick DIY I whipped up about 3 years ago. I’m a fan of denim, especially destroyed denim so this is one of my faves and hope you enjoy it!

The weather has been really nice lately so I decided to bring out an old pair of jeans I DIY’d (just added a few rips here and there) and paired them with this pretty printed blouse. Oh and did I mention this vintage Via Spiga bag was given to me by my momma…? I love a good hand-me-down!
As I mentioned in last week’s mel made post, I split this dress in two and made it into a skirt instead. It’s definitely an oldie (was not a fan of the dress to be completely honest) but glad I was able to turn it into something I would wear.
What have you made lately? I’d love to hear.
I finally began to do some “spring cleaning” and found an old blue dress I forgot I even had. It was a simple dress – nothing fancy. I wasn’t a fan of the top portion so instead of tossing it I split it in two and turned it into a skirt. Voila!
What do you think? Have you done anything creative lately? Share!
