The Best Face Oils For Every Skin Type

If you told me 5 years ago that using oils on your skin had so many benefits, I would’ve probably rolled my eyes, laughed even. We were told that adding oils to your skin would cause breakouts or clog pores, and so on and so forth, but that’s not actually true. The right oil can help improve your skin – it’s just knowing which one is right for you. It can be extremely overwhelming selecting which oils are a perfect match for your skin, since there are so many different kinds. That’s why I’m breaking it down for you and sharing a few favorite facial oils for every skin type.

GRAPESEED OIL: No one really talks about this oil (at least I don’t really hear about it), and it has so many great benefits. Grapeseed oil can help reduce the appearance of aging, wrinkles, acne and scars. It can also help balance your skin, and restore collagen.

SQUALANE OIL: This oil is suitable for all skin types: dry skin, aging or acne. It’s a great oil to use if you have eczema. Squalane oil helps reduce pigmentation in the skin, and also has some UV protection.

JOJOBA OIL: One of my favorites. It’s an overall great oil to include in your skin regimen. It is super hydrating, and is a great moisturizer to use. Jojoba oil helps prevent anti-aging, acne, soothes sunburns and dry skin. It also reduces redness, and helps with eczema and rosacea. Jojoba oil is a great oil to use for oily skin believe it or not. It will help regulate your skin oils.

LAVENDAR OIL: Helps reduce dark spots and redness. Also helps slow down signs of aging. Lavender oil is great to heal minor burns, cuts, scrapes and wounds. This oil is great for oily or dry skin.

ROSEHIP OIL: Rosehip oil helps brighten and tighten your skin, along with evening out your skin tone. It’s also great to help fade scars. Rosehip oil is great to apply during winter.

ARGAN OIL: Another great oil for all skin types. Argan oil helps heal skin problems, like eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis and rosacea – all commonly associated with dry or sensitive skin. It also treats acne, decrease the appearance of aging skin as well as improving the elasticity of your skin. This oil is also great to use during dry weather.

MARULA OIL: This oil is very similar to argan, jojoba and grapeseed oil. It helps fight acne and treat blemishes and scars. Marula oil helps protect from sun exposure. It also rejuvenates and reduces fine lines and wrinkles, along with helping promote collagen, and boost skin firmness. Great to use during winter.

These are just a few of the many benefits. From skin to hair – the list can go on and on, but to avoid this post from being too overwhelming, I decided to keep it short and sweet for you guys. I hope this list of facial oils helps you find the right one for your skin type.

7 Steps for Preparing a Better Week Schedule

It’s so easy to get distracted from having a productive week or to find motivation or inspiration to get you back on track. If it’s one thing I’ve learned is not only setting goals for myself but having a better week schedule that I actually follow. Here are 7 steps for preparing abetter week schedule that has helped me have a better week.

SUNDAY: Still have your Sunday Funday, but spend sometime planning out your entire week (Monday-Saturday). Whether it’s bringing out your planner to start writing your ideas or writing down a list of goals you’d like to accomplish. I suggest setting weekly goals rather than a bigger goal that will most likely take you longer to achieve. It’ll be easier to tackle small weekly goals. You’ll definitely feel more accomplished and good about yourself once you achieve them. Maybe it’s cleaning out your closet you’ve been dreading and avoiding for the past month or so, or eating healthier and cutting out specific foods out of your diet, or making your bed every morning. Whatever those goals are, they are all important and mean something to you, so make it a point to tackle at least one this week.

MONDAY: Although Mondays are usually the busiest day of the week, it’s also the most difficult day to get our of that “funk”, and get back on track. Work on your vision. Start creating new Pinterest boards and get inspired for the rest of the week. Imagining how you want your life to be, plays a huge part in actually creating that life. This is also the perfect time to finally start reading that book you purchased, but haven’t even flipped through the pages yet. Make time to squeeze a workout session, whether it’s going to the gym or finding a fitness video on YouTube – or simply meditating (indoor or outdoor).

TUESDAY: Meet a friend for coffee or brunch, and pick her brain if you’re feeling stuck in a rut or lack of motivation. Sometimes talking to a friend helps the brain wheels going. Tackle one of your tasks/goals you had set for yourself this week. You don’t have to complete it, just as long as you start.

WEDNESDAY: Mid-weeks are usually for winding down. Make today about you. Read a book, bring out your exfoliating/sheet masks and have a little spa day at home, or just Netflix & chill. You can probably do all three.

THURSDAY: Get back to work, and finish that goal you set for the week. Try to finish it today, that way you can cross it off your list and begin a new goal the following week.

FRIDAY: This day is usually for going out and partying it up. That’s fine, too. Maybe hang with family or do girls night. Be social today and do something fun.

SATURDAY: Get your place in order: clean, laundry, groceries, etc. Run your errands today.

I hope these tips help you have a better week and a more successful one. I hope you guys enjoyed my 7 tips that have helped me.

My Job Title

my job title, blogger, blog, influencer, career, job, jobs, melrodstyle, street style, ootd, la blogger, latina blogger, hispanic blogger, mexican blogger, blogger style, my job title, blogger, blog, influencer, career, job, jobs, melrodstyle, street style, ootd, la blogger, latina blogger, hispanic blogger, mexican blogger, blogger style, my job title, blogger, blog, influencer, career, job, jobs, melrodstyle, street style, ootd, la blogger, latina blogger, hispanic blogger, mexican blogger, blogger style,

So what is my job title? One of the most common question I’m asked in person is “what do you do?” While my Instagram profile states I’m a blogger and I do have a blog, I don’t necessary tell that to people who ask me in person.

So what is my job title you ask? Well, I don’t quite tell people I’m a blogger, but that doesn’t mean I don’t consider myself one. I do, but I’d like to think of myself as a content creator. Someone who influences others through my style and life. While I’m no professional writer or consider myself to be one, I do like to write when I do have something to say. When I do write, I love to write as If I’m speaking to a friend or how I would in real life. One of the greatest compliments is when people say they can hear me talking through my blog.

I tell people I work in marketing and social media… I mean I do, so that’s not a lie, just because some people don’t understand what blogging is, or when you go into details of what it is – especially when they hear you get paid for it. It’s just easier to say I’m in marketing and do social media rather than explain how I get paid from my blog. I do try to educate and help others understand what blogging is and how it is a real paying job – but sometimes it’s just a teeny bit difficult.

To really go into details of what I do, some of the content I share on my blog and/or social media is paid work, meaning I get paid from a brand or company to promote their business. While not everything is a “paid post”, I will state it on all platforms whether it was a sponsored post. You’ll see me state it either in the caption of my social posts, through hashtags or will state it at the very bottom of my blogpost. This is how I am able to do what I do full time. Please note that everything I do share with you all, are brands that I would use/wear in real life. I never promote anything I don’t truly believe in or fits my style. For instance, I’m not going to promote the flat tummy tea, when clearly you all know I’m a coffee drinker. It just makes more sense to partner with a brand that already fits your lifestyle, like Nespresso. When I collaborated with them, it was a perfect match. You guys see me drinking Nespresso every day, because I really do. I’m not saying I don’t drink tea. I do, but those dieting tea companies are definitely not something I would promote on my channels, simply because I won’t drink those in real life. Matcha, green tea, mint tea… are just a few I do drink.

When I first started blogging, yes – I would promote everything and anything that was gifted to me because back then, it was just a hobby and honestly had no clue what I was doing. I was still trying to figure it out all while being gifted stuff. I thought it was super cool just because it was free, but it’s so different now. Now that this hobby has turned into a career where I, fortunately can make money off of, I have grown and learned to remain true to myself in what I share and promote with you guys. That’s is ultimately the most important thing.

I hope this makes sense, and you get a better understanding of what blogging is, and what I do. 🙂

The Baby Doppler – There’s no greater feeling than being able to hear your baby’s heartbeat in the comfort of your home. I love that I can listen anytime of the day without having to check in with my doctor. It makes me not only happy, but most definitely relief to be able to just turn my doppler on and listen to my baby’s heartbeat. It’s truly amazing and incredible.

I’ve partnered with Baby Doppler to share their latest and greatest Ultraline 1000 fetal doppler, which is hands down the best in the market at the moment. This new fetal doppler includes louder heart beats, and the heart rate is more accurate than other dopplers. Plus, the best part is that it can detect the heart rate as early as 12 weeks.

If you follow me on Instagram @melrodstyle, and viewed my insta stories, then you saw that I was previously using an older fetal doppler, which I loved, until I got to try out the new Ultraline 1000 fetal doppler. I can definitely tell and hear the difference and I absolutely love it.

If you are currently expecting or know someone that is, I highly recommend purchasing the Ultraline 1000 Fetal Doppler. It would make the greatest gift.

Favorite Instagram Apps

One of the number 1 questions I am asked is what filter I use on my Instagram photos. I wrote a blogpost on How I Edit My Instagram Photos, but thought I’d update you with my new favorite instagram apps that I’m using most of the time these days.

Instagram Photo Trends and Tips, instagram, tips, trends, instagram photos, instagram apps, editing, ig apps, trending, social media, melrodstyle, la blogger, latina blogger, ootd, street style, photo edits, instagram tips, Instagram Photo Trends and Tips, instagram, tips, trends, instagram photos, instagram apps, editing, ig apps, trending, social media, melrodstyle, la blogger, latina blogger, ootd, street style, photo edits, instagram tips, Instagram Photo Trends and Tips, instagram, tips, trends, instagram photos, instagram apps, editing, ig apps, trending, social media, melrodstyle, la blogger, latina blogger, ootd, street style, photo edits, instagram tips, Instagram Photo Trends and Tips, instagram, tips, trends, instagram photos, instagram apps, editing, ig apps, trending, social media, melrodstyle, la blogger, latina blogger, ootd, street style, photo edits, instagram tips,

Here are my current favorite Instagram apps…

  1. Afterlight – This was one of the first apps I downloaded when Instagram launched. I love using the “dusty” tool and “light leak” tool on some of my photos.
  2. Retouch – This is also another app I’ve been using for awhile now. I use this app to remove blemishes or stamp out any little distracting objects in my photos, like clean the floor or remove a person in the background if I feel it is too distracting. It’s such an awesome app and really think everyone should download it. For me, it’s convenient and easier than having to upload iPhone photos on my desktop. I can edit while I’m on the go.
  3. Snapseed – I use this app to control the lighting or tones on my photos. For example, if one side of my face or body looks darker than the other side, I can easily edit through this app.
  4. Facetune – I use this app mainly to lightly smooth out any blemish, but I keep it to a minimum. I don’t like to overly edit my face or skin. This app also has a stamp tool called “patch”, which also removes objects. This app is very convenient, especially when I need to edit images for clients. I can sharpen or enhance details with the “details” tool. I can whiten out an object that looks too warm or yellow with the “whiten” tool.
  5. A Beautiful Mess (aka ABM) – This app has doodles, borders, backgrounds, and phrases, which allows you to create quotes or any text you’d like. I like to use this for either clients or for Insta Stories.
  6. Squaready – I use this app to resize an image. For example, if a photo doesn’t fit on Instagram or Insta Stories, I will sometimes use this app.
  7. Layout – I rarely use this app, but when I do it’s to create collages. I use this more for clients.
  8. VSCO – An oldie but goodie. I mainly use this app for the filters, along with the other featured tools, which I shared the exact filters I use on this blogpost here.
  9. Hyperlapse – I use this app sometimes for when I upload videos on my Insta Stories, or when I announced my pregnancy on Instagram here. It’s a fun app to fast forward or slow down any video you create.
  10. SquareadyV – Similar to Squaready, except this app can resize videos instead of photos. It’s convenient to have when certain videos do not fit on Instagram or Insta Stories.

Well, there you have it. An updated list of my favorite Instagram apps I’m using at the moment. I’d love to hear about the apps you use. Please feel free to share below or find me on Instagram @melrodstyle. 🙂

Here’s one way to make a statement without completely over doing it. I paired two huge statements pieces alone (stripe sweater and flare pants, together, and mixed in a pop of red. There’s definitely a lot going on with this look, but I do love how the subtle colors bring it down a notch, yet still not your average basic look (if that makes sense).

What do you guys think? Doing to much or do we love it?
