Why do we dread Mondays so much? Why is it that we are always looking forward to Fridays and the weekend rather than the beginning of the week, like Mondays? I think it’s because our minds are trained to believe that the weekends are always the best, but I also think it’s because we lack a little motivation in our lives. Could it be because we are slightly or overly unhappy with what we’re doing in life: career-wise, hate my boss, wish I didn’t have to come into work, etc…?

Here are 5 ways to make Monday your favorite day. These tips have actually helped me look forward to a fresh week and the first week of a new week, Monday.

TREAT YOURSELF TO A DELICIOUS MEAL: Why wait until the weekend to have brunch with friends. Go with a friend, relative or even alone and splurge a little on yourself.

DO SOMETHING YOU’D NORMALLY NEVER DO ON MONDAYS: Go to the beach or try a new activity, like yoga, paddle boarding or take a class. Pick up a new hobby or face a fear.

NEW WEEK, NEW YOU: It’s normal to get stuck in a rut or to feel uninspired, but it’s important to know that no matter what you are going through, there is no one in this whole wide world like you. Know your worth. If you’re feeling insecure about something or wanting something, but your insecurities are holding you back, then you better tell the negative committee that meets inside your head to kick rocks! A new week means a fresh start. A fresh start to do something new or to finally work on those goals you’ve been wanting to achieve. Literally take those ‘new week, new you’ words to heart and do something. Get a journal or a notepad and begin writing down a list of things you want to accomplish this week, or a list of goals you’d like to begin working on. Find your passion. Whatever they are, jot them down and make it a point to at least cross one off your list each week. It’ll motivate you to keep going once you’ve seen progress.

READ A BOOK: If you love reading as much as I do, then why aren’t we best friends yet?! If you’re not much of a reader, you should start. It really helps and has motivated me when I’ve felt pretty low. Here are a few books I’ve read/currently reading: You Are A Badass by Jen Sincero, The Women’s Room by Marilyn French, Mindset: The New Psychology of Success by Carol S. Dweck, Ph.D.

MAKE MORE ‘ME TIME’: and make it a priority. We often get so caught up with work or stress over things that really don’t matter, and forget to switch the off button. I know because that’s me. I’m 100% guilty of this. Some things in life are out of our control, but one thing that we do have control of, is our mind. I know it’s easier said than done, but try to train your brain. Calm down, take a moment, breathe and relax. At the end of the day, no one is going to take care of you like you, so make sure you take time for yourself. Maybe it’s staying offline for a day, or spending more time with family or friends you haven’t seen in awhile, being more present or living more in the moment than spending time on your phone. I actually need to be better at this one myself. It’s important to make space for offline moments in your life.

I hope these 5 tips help you look forward to more Mondays than usual. 🙂

My Job Title

my job title, blogger, blog, influencer, career, job, jobs, melrodstyle, street style, ootd, la blogger, latina blogger, hispanic blogger, mexican blogger, blogger style, my job title, blogger, blog, influencer, career, job, jobs, melrodstyle, street style, ootd, la blogger, latina blogger, hispanic blogger, mexican blogger, blogger style, my job title, blogger, blog, influencer, career, job, jobs, melrodstyle, street style, ootd, la blogger, latina blogger, hispanic blogger, mexican blogger, blogger style,

So what is my job title? One of the most common question I’m asked in person is “what do you do?” While my Instagram profile states I’m a blogger and I do have a blog, I don’t necessary tell that to people who ask me in person.

So what is my job title you ask? Well, I don’t quite tell people I’m a blogger, but that doesn’t mean I don’t consider myself one. I do, but I’d like to think of myself as a content creator. Someone who influences others through my style and life. While I’m no professional writer or consider myself to be one, I do like to write when I do have something to say. When I do write, I love to write as If I’m speaking to a friend or how I would in real life. One of the greatest compliments is when people say they can hear me talking through my blog.

I tell people I work in marketing and social media… I mean I do, so that’s not a lie, just because some people don’t understand what blogging is, or when you go into details of what it is – especially when they hear you get paid for it. It’s just easier to say I’m in marketing and do social media rather than explain how I get paid from my blog. I do try to educate and help others understand what blogging is and how it is a real paying job – but sometimes it’s just a teeny bit difficult.

To really go into details of what I do, some of the content I share on my blog and/or social media is paid work, meaning I get paid from a brand or company to promote their business. While not everything is a “paid post”, I will state it on all platforms whether it was a sponsored post. You’ll see me state it either in the caption of my social posts, through hashtags or will state it at the very bottom of my blogpost. This is how I am able to do what I do full time. Please note that everything I do share with you all, are brands that I would use/wear in real life. I never promote anything I don’t truly believe in or fits my style. For instance, I’m not going to promote the flat tummy tea, when clearly you all know I’m a coffee drinker. It just makes more sense to partner with a brand that already fits your lifestyle, like Nespresso. When I collaborated with them, it was a perfect match. You guys see me drinking Nespresso every day, because I really do. I’m not saying I don’t drink tea. I do, but those dieting tea companies are definitely not something I would promote on my channels, simply because I won’t drink those in real life. Matcha, green tea, mint tea… are just a few I do drink.

When I first started blogging, yes – I would promote everything and anything that was gifted to me because back then, it was just a hobby and honestly had no clue what I was doing. I was still trying to figure it out all while being gifted stuff. I thought it was super cool just because it was free, but it’s so different now. Now that this hobby has turned into a career where I, fortunately can make money off of, I have grown and learned to remain true to myself in what I share and promote with you guys. That’s is ultimately the most important thing.

I hope this makes sense, and you get a better understanding of what blogging is, and what I do. 🙂

The Challenges of Being an Online Influencers

The Challenges of Being an Online Influencers – Believe it or not, it’s quite challenging when you’re constantly having to prove yourself. As much as I use this platform as a positive space and love creating pretty content (or at least I think so), there are some downsides to being an online influencer. I shared What It’s Like Being A Full Time Blogger here including the pros and cons, but was inspired to go in depth of the challenging side, because as always I like to keep it 100 with you all. This post is in no way of me being a brat or trying to complain. The purpose of this blogpost was to share that it isn’t always peachy. It may seem like we have our sh*t together (again speaking for myself), but in reality, we have our struggles, too. Of course, we’re only going to share positive content and keep the bad and ugly out of our feeds, because who likes to share negative things, right?

The Challenges of Being an Online Influencers:

  1. CONSTANTLY HAVING TO PROVE YOURSELF TO OTHERS – As mentioned above, it’s quite a battle. You have to constantly convince brands why you are worthy and just as good as other influencers. I’m constantly seeing other influencers that are always featured on big accounts that I, too will tag, for example LiketoKnow.it or OOTD Magazine – who apparently only feature and repost the same type of influencers. I won’t go into detail on this one, but you guys know what I’m talking about. If not, check their instagram.
  2. ALWAYS BEING JUDGED AND COMPARED TO OTHER INFLUENCERS – It’s unfortunate, very frustrating and discouraging at times. Because I really love what I do, that’s what keeps me motivated and makes me push myself even more. It’s pretty normal to have your moments and feel some type of way, but I’ve learned to keep going and to not let that stop me from reaching my goals.
  3. BUYING FOLLOWERS – I see many influencers doing this and trying to get ahead. It’s unfortunate that we as influencers have to worry about the number of followers we have, because most brands only see quantity vs. quality. The number of followers determine how much you deserve to be paid.
  4. PEOPLE TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU – This includes brands, family and friends. Even people that you don’t speak to on a regular basis. I don’t mind helping others out in terms of giving advice, but don’t mistake my kindness for weakness, and try to get me to tell you everything I’ve done to get where I am today. I think it’s fair to give some insights, but also for others to figure it out on their own. I didn’t have anyone holding my hand or tell me how to start my blog or where to even begin. This was all trial and errors and figuring it all out on my own. I’m still trying to figure things out, and learning new things every day. Be careful who you trust or try to help out because sometimes those same people will take advantage and peace out when they get what they wanted from you. It’s happened many times to me. I’ve learned that the same people I helped out would never return the favor. Be careful who you share your contacts with. Trust me, I’ve learned that you should keep that information to yourself, because from my experience, the same influencers who I gave information to, have never helped me out.
  5. GETTING PAID ON TIME – OMG!!! When I say the struggle is real on this one, I mean the struggle is real. It’s so frustrating and stressful when you’ve completed your end of the collaboration, and the brand doesn’t pay on time. It’s even more frustrating when their terms are net30 or net60, and if it’s through a PR or agency they don’t follow up with the brand. The worst is when the brand goes MIA or leave the company and you cannot get ahold of anyone. It’s not like I can call my phone bill or mortgage and say, “Hey sorry I’m late on payment. Can you give me 60 days? I’m waiting for a company to pay me. “
  6. NOT BEING TAKEN SERIOUSLY – This ties back to the first and second. Brands often want to gift you and they feel that it is ok to give so many requirements and guidelines for posting gifted items. They expect so much, yet they refuse to pay. I’ve learned to only accept gifting from brands I absolutely love and wear in real life. Of course I only feature brands that fit my style and that I love, however; I will take gifted product from brands that don’t have a budget and make sure they understand that if I like the product, I will feature on my own time and terms. At the end of the day, as much as it is nice to receive free stuff, free product is not paying my bills. It’s ok to politely decline, especially when you are providing a service for the brand, and they need to respect and understand that.

I hope this information has become helpful for some of you who are influencers or feel stuck. It’s normal and no matter what, just keep doing you and stay true to yourself. Somethings gotta give. 🙂

As an influencer, especially after leaving my nine to five job to pursue blogging as a full time career, I knew that my benefits would change drastically. I knew that leaving my corporate job would mean no more insurance, and all the beautiful perks that come with working for a corporate company. This was a huge reason why it was difficult for me to leave my job because what was I going to do with no insurance? One must ALWAYS think of all the what ifs, because I had no clue what I would do without healthcare insurance. These are some of the things that most bloggers do not talk about, but I felt the need to share this with all my followers/readers, including other entrepreneurs and bloggers in case there was someone out there that was looking for better healthcare options. Finding the right healthcare insurance is such a drag, which is why I wanted to talk about Joany.com, and help spread awareness that there is a better option in finding the right healthcare for you. Joany makes it super easy and convenient for us entrepreneurs.

So, now that you know a little more about Joany and what they offer, be sure to visit them online and register. Right now they’re offering $50 to people who qualify for their research study which gives you access to their healthcare concierge service. If you already have health insurance, Joany can help you answer tons of questions about your plan. If you don’t have health insurance, open enrollment is just around the corner and they can help you find a plan so make sure you sign up! Joany values the input they receive, which is why they compensate people for helping them improve this unique service. I think this is so awesome.
