I thought I’d start the first day of a new month with a new beauty blog post.  I’m sharing the exact brushes I use to apply my makeup with.

I’ve been using Sigma Beauty brushes for years now, and when new brushes were delivered to my doorstep, I was beyond excited. I especially couldn’t wait to use the highlighter and contouring brushes.

Here are the steps-by-step on how I apply my foundation and powder:

  • The very first step before applying my foundation, I use a sunscreen moisturizer and an eye cream. I let it sit for a few second.
  • I then apply my foundation with the 3DHD Kabuki brush, which is AMAZING. This brush is a multifunctional brush allowing you to get all the curves, creases and angles on your face.
  • I then apply my powder with the Duo Fibre Powder/Blush brush. I love this brush because it allows me to be able to apply my powder as lightly as I’d like to.
  • Next step, is the contouring. I use the Large Angled Contour – F40 brush on my cheekbones, along the side of my eyebrows, outer edges of my forehead and jaw line. I also use the Tapered Face – F25 brush to blend in the product.
  • Followed by the Small Contour – F05 brush to contour around my nose and any smaller areas.
  • Then comes the highlighting part. I use the Tapered Highlighter – F35 brush to highlight desired areas on my face. I normally like to brighten up my cheekbones, the bridge of my nose, cupid’s bow, inner corners of my eyes, as well as my chin and in between my brows.
  • The very last step is the setting powder, which I usually use the Duo Fibre Powder/Blush brush.

All product are linked above. Be sure to follow me on Instagram @melrodstyle, as I’ll be sharing more beauty posts soon.

I drink coffee every single day. In fact, I have two cups a day when I am on the clock. As much as it sounds silly, I always look forward to having that first sip in the morning. I don’t know what it is but it gets me every time.

I stumbled upon Leaner Creamer on instagram and I knew instantly I had to try it.  It’s an all-natural non-dairy powder coffee creamer that promotes weight loss and suppresses your appetite. If your a coffee drinker like myself, then I would definitely recommend trying Leaner Creamer.

When Morgan Publicity reached out to try the new Hylamide products from Deciem, it was actually perfect timing because I was in search of new skincare product. Deciem launched in the UK about 2 years ago and is now one of the best selling beauty brands in the UK. AH-mazing!!

I just recently started using Hylamide and so far, so good. I have really sensitive skin and I haven’t had a bad reaction to any of their Hylamide products.  The Photography Foundation is literally a filter in a bottle. It vanishes any blemish you have leaving your skin feeling smooth. I use this before applying my powder. The Glow radiance booster is perfect to highlight and bring your skin back to life. The SubQ Eyes serum is my favorite because I tend to always have puffy eyes and this has helped reduce the puffiness. Last but not least, the SubQ Anti-Age serum is probably one of my favorite serums I’ve tried. It hydrates your skin and reduces wrinkles and fine lines.

If you’re in need of new skincare product, you should definitely visit www.deciem.com for more information.

It’s not every day you catch me wearing eye shadow but when I do, it’s most definitely a palette from Urban Decay so when the new Urban Decay Naked Smoky eye shadow palette came out, I jumped at the chance to try it.

I’m all about trying new things and this palette has quickly changed my thoughts about eye shadow. I love the different hues it offers. From mattes and satins to sparkles – this palette has it all! Even the fiancé noticed the new look! 😉

The Naked Smoky is available on urbandecay.com, along with many other retailers, such as Sephora and ULTA. If you love a good smoky eye, then you definitely need to try the Naked Smoky palette.

Bridal Essentials | Part 1

bridal, essentials, wedding, bridesmaids, melrodstyle, wedding season, wedding, dress, bride, must have

As a little girl, I imagined what my wedding would be like, but growing up I really didn’t think much about it as most girls do. Don’t get me wrong I, too have a secret Pinterest board dedicated to what my future wedding would be like. I guess I just never thought it would happen for me until we got engaged. I think after that, it all sort of became real and hit me that this was it. It was time to officially begin the planning process of my dream wedding (somebody pinch me).

So this is it you guys. I’m a bride-to-be, officially planning my wedding… eek!! With that said, I decided to round up just a few essentials that recently came to mind I thought were perfect and definitely a must have for the big day.

Since it’s not practical to get ready in your gown, these beautiful kimono robes are just what my bridesmaids and I need during hair and makeup. Under the Canopy Kimono Bathrobes are simple, yet ultra elegant and so right up my alley. I love that they are light weight and that they tie around the waist, which is essential and very important.

If it’s one thing I want more than anything on my wedding day is to be comfortable, and by that I mean my feet. Packing a pair of flats is essential, however; I want to look cute all day and all night, and there is no reason why I should need to switch out from my beautiful heels to an ordinary pair of flats. This is why I am so happy Sole Serum came into my life. As cheesy as that may sound, I’m completely serious. This is a miracle in a bottle, literally! I don’t know why this wasn’t invented sooner but i’m glad Sole Serum is in my life. Sole Serum is a serum designed to target and heal foot pain. This magic in a bottle serum will take you from day to night and that is music to my ears… err feet! Happy feet for my bridesmaids and I are in order!!!

This metallic box clutch is a must have. It will carry all the things I need and will allow me to be hands-free as well.

As opposed to a jacket, I love the idea of a wrap for my bridesmaids. This cashmere wrap is light weight and an easy alternative to throw on over, especially for an outdoor reception.

An iPhone case?! I know it may sound silly but we carry our phones with us everywhere we go, and since everyone will be snapping photos during the ceremony and reception, I think it’s a good idea to have a fun case like this Kate Spade Flamingo case to be able to distinguish your phone from the rest. After all, you don’t want to end the day on a sad note by losing your phone.

I hope these 5 essentials were helpful and if you have any suggestions or advise for a new bride-to-be, please leave a comment below. Would love to hear them!

Just last week, my sister sent over a small care package of new skincare products from Arcona. It’s only been a week and I can already see results. I begin my day with Arcona and end my day with Arcona. My skin feels soft, smooth and clear. I’m loving my skin so far.

Here are my fab four finds of the week. I highly recommend if you’re looking for a new skincare routine to go with Arcona.

They carry SEVEN haircare products, which I learned so much during my visit. I got the dry shampoo, the hair serum and deep conditioner, which I cannot wait to try! The best part was the people that worked there. Super friendly and so welcoming.

If you’re ever in the area, I highly recommend booking you next hair appointment with The Local Salon. They take good care of you.

Matte lipsticks are my favorite at the moment. So today, I’m sharing 3 matte lipsticks that have been in heavy rotation.

  1. Pure Red is my go-to for a night out on the town.
  2. The Natural is pretty much my everyday wear during the day at the office to even after work to meet with my girlfriends.
  3. The Whimsical is the right amount of pink and shimmer. I like to wear this color on days I wear less makeup.

Today I’m sharing a few new skin products I’m currently using on my skin that I am positive you will love just as much as I do.

I recently began using Beauti Control skin care and so far so good. I start by using their purifying cleansing gel, followed by the exfoliating polish, which by the way – feels amazing.

To wake up my tired skin in the mornings, I use the Origins refreshing scrub cleanser. It really does give you a boost of energy.

Once a week or when needed, I like to use the active charcoal mask to clear my pores.

I’m really loving the anti-aging power serum from Origins, which I use in the morning and night. It helps prevent any wrinkles and defined lines.

The Visage De Layla amino-lift is meant to really dig deep into your skin to minimize any facial expression lines and wrinkles while improving skin firmness. After using the amino-lift, I use the line filler, which is an intensive serum that blurs and vanishes any existing wrinkles. Although I’ve only used it a couple of times, I’m loving the results so far because everyone knows that wrinkles are not welcomed on our clothing just as much as they’re not on our skin. Not that I have any wrinkles but if there’s anything I can use from preventing any, then I’ll take it!

The mega-mushroom eye serum is a must have for me, which I use in the morning and night. It reduces the appearance of under eye puffiness and helps relieve dark circles.

I like to switch up my moisturizers and creams so right now I’m using the defend & restore moisture lotion. It feels really silky and smooth and not too oily, which is perfect for my oily skin.

What are you currently using on your skin? Share! I’ve love to hear your beauty routine.
