How to Make and Outfit Look Expensive
It’s true, you don’t need to overspend to look well put-together. You should be able to look your best and feel great at any price point.
Mixing classics items and trends together will elevate any look. It’s all about balance. Here are just a few tips I’ve learned that have helped me “master” the expensive look…
INVEST IN ACCESSORIES. If you’re going to splurge, I suggest doing so with accessories, as you’ll tend to wear them more than the same clothing. It makes more sense to spend your money on something you’ll get more wear out of as oppose to a dress you’ll maybe wear twice.
PAY ATTENTION TO FABRIC MATERIALS AND DETAILS. Before making your purchase look closely at the fabrics and check the washing contents just to make sure it is worth buying. I always look at buttons, zippers and any closure trims and stitching details before making my decision. Believe it or not – a button really shows whether the item looks cheap or not.
OUTFIT STYLING. Instead of throwing all kinds of trends together, focus on mixing classic staples with one trend. Keep the trend items to a minimum. Don’t over accessorize, because at the end of the day, you don’t want to look like a hot mess or end up on the “worst dressed” list. For example: Pair a classic blazer with a plaid skirt, and add a pop of color, such as red. Red is currently the most dominant color for Fall.
